Premiership final is not gripping me, though Duncan Taylor scored a good try and is having a great game in general. I assume we would all pick 14. Seymour 15. Hogg but left wing seems completely up for grabs.

I feel if we have plenty of fit options at centre Taylor is worth looking at on the wing, but we've now lost Dunbar, Bennett, Vernon, Horne (in a sense) and I'm never 100% sure on Scott's fitness.

I was going to make a poll but I think the short-term and long-term questions here would get very different answers. Maybe the 7s has created some new potential contenders? As far as I can make out, these are the options;

Visser - A finisher, technically he's fairly experienced but he makes the same blunders repeatedly
Lamont - Great guy but just too old (I wish Rory was still around)
Hughes - I've not seen enough at the top level
Hoyland - Promising but ditto Hughes
Maitland - Clearly has the talent and physical ability, has he got the application for it?
Lee Jones - Seems a much better player than when he was capped before, and even in those caps he seemed to really play above himself. I had doubts he was big or fast enough before
Huw Jones - Just throwing him in here, apparently plays wing from time to time
Brown - Just looks a club player to me
Fife - Ditto
Taylor - A centre really but I feel he could add a lot on the wing when all centres are fit
Jnr. B - Does he belong on this list?

I think that's about it. I don't know if Max Evans is even still playing but seems to be entirely out of the picture.

What do you mean top level? Hoyland scores tries for fun in a dire, dire Edinburgh side. I don't see how much further he can go in those circumstances unless given a chance on the international stage.

If we had a fully fit squad I'd pick Taylor on the wing and Hoyland at 23. Taylor either starts or doesn't make the squad for me, he's no impact player.

To my knowledge Max Evans doesn't play. I follow him on twitter and the lifestyle he is living is a million miles away from someone playing top flight rugby - he seems to split his time between California and the UK. He is most certainly no longer in France.

I really just meant I've seen very little of them recently and certainly not in any crunch games. I know of them as prospects and have looked at tries/highlights/7s clips but that doesn't tell the whole story.

Taylor is currently close to being ,if not definitely our best centre. He starts at 13.

Hoyland scored a lot of tries last year but only in 4 league games. That being said I think he has earned his chance.

Hoyland, Visser, Jones and Maitland in no particular order offer options who play wing.

We need the u20 back three players to come through and offer something too.

Hoyland makes a few mistakes at Diddy level so could be a liability at Test level. Jury out but still, deserves a shot.

Agree on 2/3 of the back three and the need for an upgrade on Visser.

The other possible drawback you get with Hoyland is he's not a big guy. We already have a pretty small back line by international standards. Having said that, I've always found his defence to be pretty decent - certainly better than Visser who is pretty big for a wing.

Visser has his downsides but I am pretty happy with him on the wing for us

I think he's great on his day. I think I've just got a couple of recent horror moments for Quins bouncing around my mind still. You just can't predict the moment he will completely forget how to catch/tackle.

I'm not saying ditch him completely though.

I reckon Farndale needs a run for Edinburgh. He looks a good combination of pace and power. Sevens is a good place to but a winger's skills under the spotlight and since he plays in the forwards he has shown a pretty impressive range of skills IMHO. Until then Maitland then Visser then Hoyland for me. Hoyland is the man for the future.

I don't think a wing who was badly injured and struggled with form and confidence should be at Edinburgh.
