This is interesting - Rugby Union with the following rule changes:
A power try is awarded when the play is initiated from within the scoring team’s 22m and there isn’t a break in continuity of possession.
A power try is worth nine points and doesn't need to be converted.
If the opposition concede a deliberate penalty to halt an attempt at a power try, it 'stays alive' when the attacking team restart play.
Teams can no longer kick the ball out on the full from within their 22.
If they do, play will restart from the point where the kick was taken with the opposition throwing in to a line-out.
A 10/22 rule where a kick taken from between a team's try-line and 10m line will be rewarded with possession of the ball if it bounces over a touchline in the opposition 22.
Matches last 70 minutes - 35 minutes a half - in an attempt to speed up play.
There are plans for a red card to result in a 20-minute penalty with a substitute replacing the sent-off player after the sanction has been served.
Rolling substitutions with teams able to make up to 10 during a match.
A team that wins by three or more tries get a bonus point.
A team that scores four or more tries in a game get a bonus point.
A team that loses a match by five points or less get a bonus point.
My views: I wouldn't want to tinker anything like this much with the beloved Union but here goes:
Power Try - maybe, but I'd only give it 6 points and it should still be converted as normal.
(Vaguely on this topic, I think tries scored between the posts should be an immediate 7 points, no conversion necessary, just like a penalty try)
I wouldn't mess with the kick to touch rules. Also, confusingly these rules both encourage and discourage kicking from hand...
Shorter matches, no way! (And anyway, how would Wales wear opponents down in a shorter match??)
Red card rule - yes please, this is exactly what they should do in the real game.
Rolling substitutions, 10 per match?? What is this American Football?? No way. (Ditto my point about Wales above)
Bonus points - too many available for scoring tries I think.
Personally, I'd give the following (only):
Bonus point for winning by 3 tries or more.
Bonus point for losing by 7 or less.
Winning by 7 points or less is only worth 3 points.

Still not sure about the worth of this competition, but this is a ridiculously good bit of skill:

Re: Global Rapid Rugby
Looks like it's reffed about as well as proper rugby. Blue No. 5 in from the side at the ruck at 0'05", blue 15 possibly offside at the kick (feet are obscured by 18), blue 15 then possibly holds and definitely pushes yellow 10 without the ball. Nice flick at the end though.
