Seriously? There is no hope in the short to medium term, it's just a rabble everytime they play. Pitiful will be in wooden spoon battle again

Yup, seems very much to be several steps back for any step forward. I don't really understand what's wrong-although I guess I overrate too many of their players.

The whole French set up is wrong. From youth to the Pro Game.
Noves is not a particularly inovative Coach as well.
National team struggles to find any shape or patterns. They go on about their "offload philosophy" which isn't particularly special, well thought out
or executed.

They make cracking cheese, though.

S'alright. Not as good as the chemical orange cheddar-style stuff from Scotmid though.

How much time are the national coaches getting with players prior to international games?

2 weeks before 6 nations. Not sure about the autumn internationals but I believe it is the same.

Isn't this something that is suppised to have improved. Not seeing much benefit yet.

Their backs look bloody good to me.

The FFR has been in disarray for years now, lacking any cohesive strategy to ensure that the national team benefits - which clearly it doesn't.
The relationship with the LNR, that runs league rugby is not exactly good, so unless signs of progress are forthcoming in the next year or so the French XV will go even further backwards and with Rugby World Cup 2023 not too far away, I'm not exactly full of optimism.

The commentators kept on calling him Batty-Seran, maybe that's the correct pronunciation ?.
That lad can really play.... and he looks like he's 'almost 12 yrs old'.

Both 9's (dupont and Serin) are in their early twenties. What other "good" backs are you talking about? Penaud? Lacroix?

The older guys seem to be enjoying the quality of the distribution.
I suspect they'll do ok in the 6n's. Their backline can play off the cuff. They're bloody good at it.

The excellent Baptiste Serin (don't pronounce the p) and Antoine Dupont should be France's scrum halves for the next few years. There've been rumblings that Morgan Parra may be recalled for the match against Japan - I hope not.
Anthony Belleau, the Toulon fly half is young and should get his chance in the 6N. Elsewhere in the backs, the Clermont centre Damien Penaud is class, but there's not much else to shout about in the backs.

Word on the street is Guy Noves may be on the way out with the current coach of Cameroon set to replace him.

I don't want to jinx him but Mathieu looks cheerful. Didn't see much of him this week but he looked good last week.

Mmmmm....dunno.
Given the new penchant for continuity and skill,....might as well call up Parra and stick him anywhere.
Seems like the French backs coach is just throwing the kitchen sink at it. Might as well go for it.
Who's in charge of the backs...?. Is it that big blonde Fella..?.

Who coached the French XV midweek against the All Blacks? Was that Noves as well?

Actually, Cameroon is suspended from competition at present. Ridiculous. They got the chance of a lifetime when Saint Andre went over there to coach them, and they were supposed to host an Africa Cup Bronze competition involving Zambia, Algeria and Nigeria, but when they failed to comply with certain conditions involved with hosting a World Rugby-sanctioned tournament (I believe it was to do with security issues) they lost the hosting rights and got suspended from competition to boot - leaving Saint Andre out of a job. Meanwhile, Nigeria were also ejected, owing to lack of a functioning domestic league, leaving Algeria to travel to Zambia where they edged out the hosts in a one-off finale.

Running into contact one out for phase after phase, with the odd lateral dance across the face of the defence is not playing off the cuff. It's bad coaching.

You need to take a closer look at their last two games.
