You sure that wasn't Twin Peaks? The owls are not what they seem.

I'll stick with criminal then. I have a tendancy to fall asleep so it's possible I missed the big reveal regarding the owls.

Cinema Swirl is one that I quite like. The set-up is two lads, a big Irishman and his little English friend, who watch the films that the latter has missed out on.

Also, the Worst Idea of All Time Podcast, where two comedians spend an entire year (or 52 consecutive weeks) watching the same terrible movie once a week, and then spend around half an hour discussing topics like how it made them feel, or what they appreciated in the film on this particular viewing. They have recurring segments where they obsess over a specific background character and speculate on what that person's story is.

I download 'Theres no such thing as a fish' regularly & for want of a better phrase find it quite interesting...

Not that I've found, which is odd given the volume of decent football ones I have found.

Bumping thread.

Just finished season 2 of Serial, which looked at the Bowe Bergdahl case. It's still an absorbing podcast, but there really is something lacking compared to season 1, which looked at the ongoing Hae Min Lee muder case. Still, a worthy listen.

Speaking of the Hae Min Lee murder case, I've dipped my toes into Undisclosed, by Rabia Chaudry, a family friend and part of his current legal representation. 1 episode in, 59+ to go through. Definitely lacking in the polish that Serial had, but apparently it gets better as the hosts settle in and get used to their roles.

I'm slightly obsessed by this guy! Love his style, have downloaded all the HHs. Just finishing the fall of the Roman Republic set.

He also has Common Sense, which is a political podcast. Really interesting, though almost exclusively focuses on American politics (understandably). His recent few have reflected on Trump/Bernie and what this might mean for the future of American politics.

Another history shout out is the History of the World in 100 Objects. It's done by the curator of the British Museum and is bizarrely fascinating, despite you thinking that this would probably be better on TV, where you can see the objects in question.......but still, it's interesting, each one is pretty short so it's good to dip in and out of. Inspired my Dad to go the the museum and try and locate all the objects.

Also listened to Undisclosed- it does get better, it is very interesting to hear them systematically take down the State's case. It's quite pro-Adnan though, obviously, so that can be irritating depending on your view of the case. It's not a polished as Serial but it does go into stuff in more depth, so if you were inspired by Serial and then fell down the rabbit hole that is reddit, this will be your cup of tea.

Nerds, give The Adventure Zone a shot. The McElroy brothers of My Brother, My Brother and Me fame and their dad play Dungeons and Dragons while having no idea about how to play the game.

Crimetown.

Mafia and corruption in Rhode Island from the 60s through the 90s. Loads of interviews with old wise guys and cops from the time, give it a try.

I've got into Blood & Mud. An Englishman (Northern so slightly League-tainted but) and Welshman discuss mostly European rugby and test matches involving the 6N teams. It's funny without being puerile and passionate without being fanboyishly jingoistic.

Their analysis is pretty good and largely untainted by their acknowledged national allegiances. The Welsh guy can be hilariously despondent about the state of Welsh rugby.

They also invented the concept of the Cuthbert-Plisson Cup (AKA Shitwatch) which is a reverse challenge trophy for European Clubs, ie it's passed from the holder to the next team they beat. Treviso recently ended a 78 day reign by beating Ospreys.

Brian Moore's new-ish Telegraph rugby podcast isn't bad, unlike the R5 rugby podcast with the world's worst rugby pundit in Ugo Monye.

If you're interested in general sports podcast, try Flintoff, Savage and the ping pong guy. Surprisingly decent podcast with Freddie Flintoff, Robbie Savage (mediocre soccer player turned pundit for the antipodeans) and Matt Syed British/European table tennis champion turned journo and sports psychology author. They talk about issues in sport and give a sportsman's perspective. It works because you have someone extravagantly talented who didn't perhaps make the best of themselves, someone with moderate talent who wrung every last drop out of it and a decent journalist who knows where they are both coming from to tie it all together.

http://thewestwingweekly.com/ Is very good..... if you like West Wing. Josh Malina is very funny and they have had some really good guests. I was always under the impression that Aaron Sorkin was a bit of a dick but he's been on twice and both times has been excellent entertainment
