Cheika the clown

Post by Len »

He doesn't have long in his position I'd say. Hes starting to ramble like de Villiers did before he was sacked. Needs to take his medicine. Just last year we had a picture of Richie as a grub on front of some Aussie rag.

Hope they get thumped up north.

His recent outbursts over refereeing are even better if you go and read his comments about always respecting the referee after the Scotland quarterfinal.

He's just signed an extension, so I'm not entirely sure if the ARU will be in a hurry to sack him. And even if they did, who else is there?

At least one Aussie rugger has cause for celebration:

"Wallabies fullback Israel Folau has showed sporting relationships between Australia and New Zealand are more cordial than they may seem by becoming engaged to New Zealand netballer Maria Tutaia."

If they're good enough to play at World Cups, why not in between?

I think his job's safe - as mentioned his contract was extended through to 2019 prior to the England fiasco. Whether that's immutable, I don't know. Presumably there is some point where a position becomes untenable, but he's not there yet. Regardless, he's definitely a fiery and abrasive sort of guy. PdV was wacky, but he had an endearing quality to his madness. Cheika seems a difficult guy to like.

In fairness, he did add to the occasion during the match on Saturday. Ever so often the big screen would show Cheika banging his fist, or mouthing angrily, or waving his arms at some perceived on-field injustice, and every time the crowd would roar a big "Wahay".

I fear he's tarred himself with his reaction to the clown cartoon. It's teasing 101 - if the target reacts, you're onto a winner. The British tabloids will have him for breakfast if can't control himself up there.

The televisual world has been terribly deprived by never having the opportunity for a split screen dual coaches box shot featuring Heyneke Meyer and Cheika

I see the ABs have been cleared as suspects for the room bug too. If you can, just imagine: What if the Wallabies found a bug in their meeting room at Eden park, how would they have reacted? Cheika reckons it was bullshit the ABs wanted answers and raised the question, he'd hit the fucking roof and so would the rest of the rugby world if it'd been the other way round.

Hes a big blubbering pussy.

2015:

"Cheika conceded the Wallabies had enjoyed "a pretty good escape" overall but said of the penalty: "You have to live with the ones you get and the ones you don't. It is what it is and you just deal with it.

Because of some things that have happened to me in the past, I've become quite neutral on the topic of referees."
http://www.skysports.com/rugby-union/ne ... nalty-call

2016:
"A frustrated Michael Cheika says he is "bitterly disappointed" at the performance of referee Romain Poite in last night's 29-9 victory by the All Blacks over the Wallabies, saying the match official ignored Australia captain Stephen Moore, an act he described as "blatant" and the continuation of a theme."

http://m.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/arti ... d=11701130

Wallabies coach Michael Cheika was clearly fuming on camera after the decision was made, and said after the game: "Obviously I can't say anything because they've got you by the throat. I've just never seen shepherding from behind before."

He's given away how easily gets triggered, and the rags up there are going to have a field day with him. He's way too thin-skinned, Stephen Moore as well for that matter. Consider how Hansen and McCaw's reaction, or complete lack of one, to the Richetty Grub bullshit from last year. That's how you deal with that sort of thing. They might've been seething, or they might've been amused. Either way, they both maintained a poker face and proceeded to win the world cup.

The British tabloids will scarce know there's any rugby on. The crowd may get on his back a little, but that's more down to how the game goes.
