It's not just the Mitre10 Cup, it's also his appearances for the Blues earlier this year which saw him mentioned as a potential All Black.

Well yes, but I certainly didn't expect this season. Bearing in mind that he spent half the Super season off playing 7's, I thought that they'd wait until he had a full season under his belt.

Ioane is also helped by the fact that there's not really too many other long term options at centre. Ngatai has concussion problems, Fekitoa hasn't taken his opportunity and Lienert-Brown is primarily a second-five.

George Moala is officially out of the tour, having torn the ligaments off his arm. Ryan Crotty will remain with the team, as he is expected to recover by the time the team face France in Paris. New Crusader and Taranaki centre Seta Tamanivalu has been called in to replace Moala.
