Greatest All Blacks XV (pro era) - second five-eighth

Post by Lizard »

And so we move to second five-eighths, where it is very hard to go past Ma’a Nonu – a limited bosh artist who converted himself into a very skilled player indeed. Mauger was a faithful servant with a very low error rate, linking some real legends but never really being one himself. Ieremia technically makes the shortlist but 23 caps (22 starts) over 5 seasons doesn’t scream greatness. Sonny Bill, although undoubtedly talented, hasn’t had the longevity or commitment to be considered a true All Black great, either. Missing from the shortlist is Walter Little, who played the bulk of his test rugby as an amateur but still notched up 14 pro starts, just behind Pita Alatini’s 15.

What a player. From his early days untill his retirement..
He should have received far more recognition.
In his early days he capable of unbelievable breaks. Towards the end he was so mature and a part of the AB machine.
Against the toughest opponents (vs SA) you expected that he would provide the way to unlock defenses.
One of the best.

Really happy that the team has moved on OK. I was really afraid that we would never see again rugby like the one played from the ABs the last years.
