However, I'm sure that it was well worth the pain.
I'll be honest, I really hope you get to keep hold of the Raeburn Shield for a bit, take it round NAmerica this summer etc. It's a tough ask, but when Finn's has his mojo in place, he's the best FH in the world; you've got this breakdown malarkey sorted, with a good midfield and strong counter-attack. It's perfectly doable for you.
Thanks Which. I think a real key thing for us which seems to determine how we'll do is how aggressive we are in defence. Against Wales and France (and Samoa) it was easy to make yards against us phase after phase whereas against NZ and England (and Ireland last year), we seem to have at least someone flying up and either making a tackle behind the gainline or putting the pressure on and making the game more frantic which is what we like.

If we beat Ireland in 2 weeks, we will go up to 3rd in the IRB world Ranking. We now sit at 5th behind NZ, England, Ireland and Australia.

Not that I think it will happen.

What did we all make of Hogg?

Chip over he top was ridiculous. I can see why he saw the opportunity there but it was high risk and his path was blocked. Marked out of the game a bit? Seemed pretty solid in his other involvements and slipped a few tackles / nice passes.

I feel kind of like Watson, even if he didn’t make the inroads himself that much, the attention he required was a big contribution.

On that note Watson was immense in that first half. Clearly England were prompted to quieten him down in the second but that seemed to coincide with Barclay winning 300 turnovers.

Solid international game. Bar his 1 chip it was a very professional game from him.

Just watched Jones second try again.. Gets better every time.
Backs his own speed and power, very similar to some of the S.A. footage before he shipped over.

Was at the game in the south stand and got caught up in the occasion so don't have any real anaylsis that would trump TV viewers. I agree about Reid being anonymous but he's been asked to come in and do a job in the middle of a propping crisis so I wouldn't be taking any risks by dropping him. One thing you won't have seen on TV due to the focus on the immediate action is that Wilson spent a lot of his time in defence way back in the corner to return any kicks. Interesting and presumably tactical - surprised Ford, Farrell or Brown didn't really test him. They would have had the pace to isolate him - especially if he was made to turn or wait for a bounce.

England only had 3 moves. Up the jumper maul - well defended, shuffle the ball cluelessly from side to side - not illegal but hilarious to watch and then there was the 1-2 dummies running off first reciever obstructing tacklers allowing Farrell/Ford to pass to the man to run into the gaps. Despite us reading it and defending it perfectly Nige let them get away with it all night. Perhaps the English fans moaning about his performance will have a rewatch.

Felt we left a lot of points on the pitch and even more if we actually had a functioning lineout (please...). Scoreline flatters England!

Solid but that brainfart would have cost in a tight game. There was a bit of a groan when he booted that (we were sat behind him) as there was no opportunity there at all - it was high risk and low reward IMO. He was the only realistic chaser and still had to run through a crowd to give chase. England had numbers at the back. It's the kind of opportunity that would see Glasgow in under the posts in a single phase (club level, yes but too tired to think of a better analogy).

It was never on but he's had a solid 6N - I'm hoping his x factor performance comes out against Ireland!

Good for you getting to see that live. I’d have loved to have been there at the end, despite my accent.

Interesting what you say on Wilson. He is a bit of an enigma. But I did notice him taking a fair bit of pressure of when fielding those kicks where presumably hitting Hogg/Russell was the plan.

What did you make of the drift? It’s hard to judge on tv sometimes. There were moments it looked like England had a lot of men/space outside when attacking, but Jones never seemed that phased about it and generally pushed Joseph in to just peddling the ball on or cutting back, to little effect.

One of the more heartening parts of the game was that maybe the big names didnt stand out as much as we're used to but thats because the rest of the guys seem to be raising their games rather than the big names being quiet. Hogg was good yesterday, solid, without being spectacular. He didnt need to be with Jones exploiting space at every opportunity. Can you imagine setting a defence to try and stop Russell/Jones thru the middle but also keeping tabs on Hogg/Maitland/Seymour out wide? No to mention Horne who I thought was great yesterday.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

I had major doubts about Owens but watching live and on replay he was pretty fair.
Although I think it's a red all day long and he didn't signal a penalty so cares try should have stood.
The odd thing was that England picked a team to smash the breakdown but then didn't do it. I couldn't understand why Barclay and Watson were able to get in as the second or third man so often when there should have been one of those big forwards in the way preventing them. It wasn't as if they were particularly quick on it, it was that the English forwards just weren't there.

Well drilled and coached. Not wanting to take anything away from the performance but England were clueless in attack. Bad possession (to our credit) but they kept shovelling it wide, nobody wanted to take on the defence. A few hard lines off Care or a few rapid pick and drives would have made some good yardage and dragged the defenders closer and closer to the ruck which would have given England the numbers and space to attack out wide. It's ironic that Jones mocked us for going side to side when that is exactly what England did yesterday.

Either way most of that pressure came from piss poor ball from the breakdown and that is down to our domination.

The biggest positive except winning comfortably is there is clearly more to come. Wasn't a perfect performance and was still clearly good enough which is a great sign.

first time in a while that we've beaten all 5 other nations in just 2 tournaments. Has this actually happened before?

So we currently have homes wins against Wales, England, Ireland, France, Aus, Argentina right? That’s not too shabby.

Watched it back last night and again this morning when a bit more sober! Don’t know where to start - they were great.

Big step-up next time out, but I’m just enjoying this all-too-strange feeling for now.

I do Yes, he kept England in the game with that ridiculous chip kick, lucky to get away with the intercept ye were far superior it's high risk but against a real backrow it won't work
That chip was Hogg. Interceptions happen. Particularly after the ball has been slowed down illegally.

Everywhere I fucking go today there is at least one person sneering at Scotland... it’s that kind of smug “knowing” haha, wait till you face X, Y and Z comment. Why, oh why do people feel the constant urge to knock Scotland down a peg or two? Out of all the home nations we are the fucking last set of fans that need to be reminded about hubris.
Yes hogg with the chip. No sneering here watched it in a pub in Lisbon and there was a rendition of flower of Scotland at the end, was a good day. And with swinson and nel back yere going to be even stronger. Jones player of the tournament so far

Ah, forgive me for that. You didn't do anything to warrant that response. Put it down to me being a 2 pint screamer and taking the internet too seriously for some reason.

This 6 nations has really fucked with my karma.
