Ireland are on fire. The Italian defence isn't bad it's just that the Irish attack is stunning.

Well now, I don't want to be ungenerous but there was a string of offsides 2 or 3 metres from Italy's line during the first 7 minutes and no card, no penalty try. I'd suggest that that was a tad inconsistent.

Play a lot of advantage in the first 15 mins,...it knackers them out and shuts them up.
Glen has been appointed to this game precisely because it's two teams that will actively try and play a technical game. It makes life a helluva lot easier. He's doing ok.

Fair play, Simon Zebo and CJ, I kinda wish Italy had made it 17-28 before ht,.....they are going for it and they ain't playing badly.

Trouble is that Italy's defence is down to a lotofeffort, big collisions, but they are getting pulled about without ever really smothering and repelling Ireland's attack. They are wearing themselves out

This is a very angry bunch of lads. But they are certainly channelling it.

SerjeantWildgoose wrote:The back row is screaming out POM, VdF, CJ and given his recent form who could deny Conan the bench. When we get to Murrayfield in 10 days or so, the Jocks will be just as surely after Conor's standing leg as they were at Scotstoun 2 weekends ago and they're a bunch of cynical hoores so I wouldn't be surprised if they launch a few late hits on Sexton, too. We need a back row that is going to look after our half backs and I wouldn't be too surprised if Jaimie is in the starting XV in Rome to cover for the suspension that POM will likely pick up having floored Strauss or given Russell a dose of the Weegie medicine.

Simon is nailed-on, the best 15 in Ireland and that should be the end of any debate about squeezing any more blood from the Kearney stone. The man has given enough and its time to pass the baton. The jock centres are pretty nifty, but a combination of Robbie and Ringrose should be more than a match. The wings are where we need to make the careful call and I'd take Earls and Trimble, with TOH on the bench.

Swinson and Grey are a powerful combination and they need to be got at early. Devin is critical to securing our lineout and nobbling theirs, and I'd start Henderson to beat them up in the loose.

The game is being touted as a potential banana skin, but to be honest I think that squad has enough in it to put a XV on the park to beat them out of sight - and then another XV to go and do the same the next day.
Accidentally clicked on this thread, but I really enjoyed reading this.

Did you find the one where I posted that Mike Brown is a slow witted cunt who should have been reading the Scots' 6N thread last weekend when that majestic piece of erudition and foresight was picked over?

That looked more like a team that beat the AB's.

Ha. Afraid not. I thought I spent too much time on here but clearly it's not enough.

On a serious note, is there a reason Gilroy isn't involved more? Not that Italy put up much of a fight but he always seems very dangerous when I've seen him.

He's struggling to get a start at Ulster, ahead of Trimble and Bowe, and to be honest he's victim to his own success having had a blistering first season and yet to live quite up to it.

And according to my 19-year old son, he likes to get on the lash in Ollies a little too much.
