Controversial no-ball decision.

Devalued series.

Lead of 133 with 6 wickets left..both Swampy's lads set for big scores.Eng will need a long bat (*) with a sensible Smiff declaration on D4.
(*) ..in more ways than 1.. :|

And we're still better than we were in the days of Derek Pringle

I recall some writer extolling the virtues of Pringle to tour the West Indies on account of his "dry wit". Thats a handy attribute when their quicks are trying to knock your block off of coarse.

I'm afraid our 1st innings under par score is coming back to bite us. Its now about escaping with a draw. Any bad weather about?

It would be a major feat not to lose by an innings now...........

Going further on Broad and Anderson being allowed to bowl in such negative manner I wonder what the plan was had Stokes toured, given that is that Stokes isn't close to a containing bowler and does go for runs chasing wickets. Did they change their plans after losing Stokes, or were we always going to have a mishmash in our bowling attack.

Have you the pitch maps for Anderson and Broad, out of interest?

No, it's supposed to be up on the ICC site, but having looked it's not updated. You can select the innings and the bowler, hit apply, and then nothing happens.

ah ok- can see Andersons for this innings (as current bowler on cricinfo), and its pretty clear in this innings he's been bowling a good to full length outside off stump to right handers, bit more on the stumps to lefties, which is what you'd expect I guess.

Marsh edged right in between 1st and 2nd slip. Raced away for 4.

Next two balls beat Marsh's defence. The slightest nick would've been caught behind.

Just not happening for us.

Pitch is doing things...by the time the Aussies declare, it's going to be ripe for us.

300 lead for Oz. with 3 wickets still left and time to rattle Eng. at end of D4...piece o'cake.
Stoneman quack, Cook ,Vince & Malan back in shed with paltry 68 on the board.
Some resilience from Root & Bairstow, over 200 adrift going into D5...4-0 thrashing unless some sort of miracle.
hmmmmph..

I gave up after seeing Crane bowl 5 full tosses in his first two overs. Tough to win anything with a one man attack, and your top order being either not up to it, or in bad nick. We’ve made a vulnerable oz team look very good- ended some of our own careers and provided a basis for some oz ones.

Its been a nightmarish end to a series which we have failed to properly contest. We've had the odd good session and even the odd good day, but stringing anything together has proved beyond this team.

It never rains eh?

Root has been hospitalised with dehydration from diarrhoea and sickness.

Hope he's ok. Gruelling conditions yesterday.

47' ?? hottest in 79 yrs...that's ridiculous - they should shut the roof.
unlikely his condition will blow through by the time 5 more wickets have gone - sad end to his tour if that transpires.
