That could put France's chances at risk!
I don't know it'd make that much of a difference. A weather enforced draw puts both France and Argentina on 6 points. If we assume they both get 5 point victories out of their minnow games and zero points from England, then they'd both be on 11 with France going through due to the head-to-head. It'd give Argentina a sniff, but they'd still have to outpoint France against England or hope Tonga do them a favour.

It'd be shite for France to have it 'out of their hands' and based on BPs though

That seems awfully unfair.

It does, but RWCs are such congested schedules, there's probably no viable alternative (backup stadium maybe?)

I'd go a little further than "unfair" - surely it invalidates the whole tournament? How can anybody take the final result seriously if one team was eliminated by the WEATHER?

I'm not saying I know a better solution. That doesn't change any of the above.

WR had confirmed that it would have been played at Kobe if rained off, they just require 24 hours notice

Pretty good match so far. USA will rue a couple of handling errors at crucial moments.

France look so lackadaisical. Just a complete air of nonchalance. How very French.

But not impressed by O'Keefe, he appears to be favoring the underdogs here.

And I thought I couldn't get any more annoyed about that result.

Tomorrow's match could be interesting, as Italy's two 5-pointers so far make it a must-win for South Africa. Obviously, they are heavy, heavy favourites, but shocks do happen and South Africa have lost to Italy before (albeit with a very demoralised side in the pouring rain). If that happens, then the most likely outcome would be a Japan vs Italy quarter final and potentially the hosts getting to the semi-final, which might make the Japanese fans spontaneously combust if the scenes during the Ireland game were anything to judge by.

I mean, it's not going to happen, but it'd be fun if it did.

Yeah, I can't believe you thought it may be close. There's a massive gap between these two teams. Italy are just poo.

To clarify, I didn't say it'd be close; I said it'd be fun if it were. Mind, I didn't expect Italy to go quite so spectacularly to pieces - I haven't seen that many self-inflicted wounds since I last looked at the Brexit situation.

Not really. Semi-competitive in the first half, but South Africa always in control, followed by a second half where Italy contrived to shoot themselves in the foot in ever more exciting and spectacular fashions. Nothing of any great interest - maybe worth the 5 minute highlights.

No question that it's high there, I didn't see any dipping after he committed.
Yellow seems right though.

Uruguay have really come on. Obviously they won’t win, but they’re having a decent crack. Meanwhile, Australia go hunting heads. 2nd yellow card.

Few others have been let go as well, could have been 3 yellows for persistence (ETA: Beale - now we've actually seen a replay).

Mind you, Cheika has said that he doesn't know what the laws are anymore!

I missed the replay of that Beale tackle - looked like a potential technical red from my first viewing (direct contact, no mitigation). What did the replay show?
