I don't really see how Trump can win in 2020. He lost the popular vote last time around and has worked hard to alienate some of the groups who voted for him.

Then again I confidently asserted nobody would be stupid enough to make him their nominee and certainly nobody would be stupid enough to make him president. And there's still little identified as to what the Dems will stand on other than not being Trump. Also Trump might just be getting started on the politics of fear, who knows where this ends up if a mob mentality takes over

The Democrats will hopefully take some responsiblity for their failure in 2016 and provide more room for progressive candidates. Taking responsibility is a hard thing for Americans though, hence the Adderall.

I'm not so sure. The 2016 election was more the result of Democrats screwing it up rather than Trump winning it, although he would disagree with that.

Clinton isn't just hated with the inbred rednecks; her shady role in international arms trade, and her earnings through series of speeches at Goldman Sachs and frankly, yet much more questionable environments, haven't made her much beloved among progressives in the USA. The candidate coming from the Democrats will be better this time round, so that gives hope. But the whole Mueller probe has severely dented public trust in mainstream political media (NYT, WP, Wall Street Journal etc.) what with them superficially and brainlessly hyping the whole thing. Probed by a refusal to accept that Trump is a result of deeper problems, rather than the cause, of course. Trump will milk this, and rumors are that he wants to join the Correspondents Dinner this year. People are already composing the predictable jokes he'll make , like "sorry I wasn't there for the past two years, but I was too busy plotting with Vladimir Putin in your imaginations".

A combination of him milking this little victory on the Mueller probe, and another Wall Street candidate from the Democrats could win it again for Trump.

Cuomo won, and most importantly, in NYC. But he lost in Tompkins County, where a large part of the electorate sits at Cornell University (even though the Nixon campaign misspelled 'Ithaca'). He was unpopular from the very moment Clinton endorsed him.

Indeed, Cuomo was unpopular, not hated. But Hillary, photoshopping her face on a Nazi costume and handing out the flyers at local Democrat conventions? That's pretty close to hate for me, though. The whole "Bernie or Bust" thing went generally too far. There were a lot of morons that voted for him against Hillary, and then for Trump as a protest vote. The split in the party is still there, though, and its a topic of daily discussion.
