I dont do internet outrage but am pretty pissed at this, he is clearly (IMO) getting off because of his importance to the game overall in S.Africa, because that is sure as shit a headbutt.
Edit: Apparently mitigated by being held, sorry, bullshit. Headbutt is a headbutt. Dont care about the result or effect thereon, don't care we lost (well not in this context) that is a straight up citing in my book and he has been let off and in the context of how obvious it was, for I can see only politics being the reason.

I've only just seen that. That is as obvious a red as can be. I wouldnt of even minded them giving Horne a yellow for holding too but you cant headbutt people

Halfpenny should have seen yellow for his tackle in the air on Seymour and now this. I think the Halfpenny one actually pisses me off more though, considering the amount of cards we've seen for the same offence against the same opposition.
Kerneys got played on as well.
I find it amazing that they are saying a head butt isnt a red card now, just mental , World Rugby have lost the plot, might as well start rucking heads again next week because its clear WR aint going to send you off even if you pump the refs sister in front of him

The real question is why the TMO sat on it during the game. If he missed it, you have to question what the fuck is he there for, if he didn't, why wasn't it flagged for review?

I'm thoroughly enjoying the mad twats on twitter trying to defend it because wee Peter Horne held Kolisi down. 6ft 2 and 16.5 stone and the only way he could break away from a guy 2.5 stone lighter is to head butt him

If you're the black captain of South Africa you'd be okay, but anyone else is going to be in trouble. And really this can only be they didn't want to bring Kolisi to a hearing as that being held excuse as mitigation hasn't worked for a good number of others

SRU should get in this. It's ridiculous that it's not seen as worth a hearing.

Just read that Hogg is available for Saturday and in the article he mentions that Horne didn't have a whinge about it. Maybe he should, or Laidlaw at least. You can be sure as shit that if something like this happened to Wales or Ireland AWJ and Sexton would be in the refs ear right away. In fact the pair of them are never out of the refs ear.

I don't know what options there are for the SRU where an independent citing commissioner is in place

Mental to think that Ferguson went to jail for that when you see the stuff some people get away with. Callum Clark springs to mind - still makes me sick even thinking about that one.

Ferguson didn't go to jail just for that headbutt. It was the straw that broke the camels back. He already had assault convictions.
I am in two minds about what goes on in the field of play being a police matter (Kieron Dyer and Lee Bowyer were spoken to for handbags too). Emotions do boil over and I struggle to find the line of police matter and not.

It doesn't look great, you can refer a matter to the independent citing commissioner, but they don't need to be made aware of this as they already know about it and have ruled
If there wasn't an independent citing commissioner the SRU could cite the incident and it'd proceed to a hearing, but there is so it seems this matter is stuck going nowhere with no avenue for appeal

I am not sure Hogg should play v the RGs. A deputy needs game time there (Kinghorn or Maitland or Seymour) and Hogg will be needed for the euro games coming up.

I agree that I struggle to define where that line is.
But I don't struggle to put Callum Clarke on the far side of it, but Kilosi on the "no police" involvement - shoulda been carded though, or at least cited and banned.

Kolisi did get a warning from the citing commissioner, conceivably someone will even phone a parent or guardian and say he's been naughty

Like the police/council obsession with raising revenue (sorry clamping down on exceeding the speed limit) the TMO on Saturday speciality was clearly limited to finding a minuscule forward pass or any other reason he alone can decide if Scotland scored a length of the field try.
As for the blow to the head (head butt) without sufficient force (how is that measured exactly, blood count?) maybe Scott Murray should look to have his record expunged from his Cardiff sending off?
Agree with the ref management or lack of. Laidlaw doesn't engage with ref's, he moans and whines at them like a teenager. Not the same thing.

I absolutely agree. The citing process is a bit of a lottery, but that’s not where Iwould be focussing my fire if I were Toony, I would be asking questions about why the TMO wasn’t doing his job during the game. I’m not really much interested in what sanctions are or aren’t dished out after a test match - it doesn’t change the result, but a TMO failing in his duty during the game needs looked at.

To.be honest I'd rather Townsend focused on Argentina. Let the DoR or someone in an office take it up.

If it made contact at all it's a definite red and I don't see how anything else can possibly be justified. The citation process is completely broken. Having said that, Horne should obviously have been penalised and if they actually bothered penalising people for holding then it wouldn't happen anywhere near as frequently.

Quite, that nobody ever gets done for holding off the ball is an ongoing problem. Actually this is one area the game has improved with TV coverage, but there's still far too much

You're right. The SRU can come back to this with World Rugby after the AI's are over. Despite what I wrote it shouldn't involve Toony at all.
