All of which doesn't mean our less cooperative approach with the EU is the correct one, though that ship has sailed and/or even started sinking dependent on bias.

The Oxford/AZ jobby appears to deliver great promise, especially if the arfadose/fulldose arrangement brings the 90% immunity.
Being particularly effective for elders and appearing to be effective reducing spreading from asymptomats added bonuses.
£3 a shot vs £20 or so for Pfizer, plus storable in a regular fridge for 6 months will help the global push.
The specialist refrigeration suppliers, transportation and storage, can stay calm for now.Over to the regulators now.
(Still reckon the take-up in uk might struggle to reach the 70% quickly though, without mandation)

Millions of punters flocking to airports to spread holiday cheer and pathogen across the country. A network of flying incubators. Fucking hell. A few rural hospitals are going to collapse before Christmas at this rate.

There is no way that the rules will be followed or policed over Christmas. This is going to result in lockdown January.

Saw this video in one of the Dutch newspapers - 7000 person wedding in Brooklyn. Must say it looks a mighty impressive turnout, even more so given it was all organised in secret via word of mouth, but in these times incredibly irresponsible.

That part of Brooklyn is hardcore orthodox, like semi-autonomous Vatican City-like.

That aside I don't see many women in that clip, so maybe traditional Jewish weddings are more liberal than I'd have assumed, and fair play to the women for not going (unless they've all been shoved into one crowded corner out of camera)
As I said, I came across it when reading Dutch news - I didn't 'decide to find it'.

Shut the fuck up, Digby.
I'm going to second that - it's massively out of line to imply that Zhivago is an anti-Semite because they're left wing and they've commented on a story that is all over the news about massively irresponsible event that happens to involve Jewish people. They've not "decided to find something about Jews", they've commented on something about COVID and it's a dick move to imply otherwise.

Some say such a message out of line, some say on it's on brand for a large tranche of extremists. In Trump that behaviour would be termed dog-whistling

Some would say that you're calling a person who has never shown any previous signs of it an anti-Semite and that it's more than a little bit rude.

'tis the zeitgeist.

@digby - stop trivialising racism by making stupid accusations, no one here is dumb enough to fall for your bullshit.

Has the UK given regulatory clearance? I don't think the FDA hearing for the Pfizer vaccine is until the 10th Dec here.

Probably tied in with their pay rise. You lay be the only people to get a pay rise next year, the down side is this little prick (not a reference to Hancock).

No idea. They’ve been gearing up here for at least 6 weeks to start from 2nd Dec, and I’ve been told - not in my job funnily enough- that it will start on cue. I’m guessing a bit on the actual vaccine, but that’s the one that was planned with such detail because it’s so hard to handle.
We shall see.

Not at all. Agenda for change not even close to being announced. Personally I great the news with a bit of hope rather than world weary cynicism, despite what I know :). A triumph of hope over experience!

He’s probably wondering how to get back in with the in crowd in New York once the gravy train departs for good.
