In some ways the Cheika stuff is a bit 'meh', especially with the faces Johnson used to pull, Gatland and Hansens spats and EJ's swearing but perhaps MC needs a bit of a word in the ear!
I do find Lyons "ending players careers" talk very unsavoury and OTT though. Have some digs, give it big and talk about outplaying them but I think hes gone a bit too far!
Give lynn credit. He does have a bowling average of 31.83.

I more annoyed by the chav who though hurling some abuse Cheika’s way was acceptable. If you go to watch a match ast HQ then you mind your Ps and Qs. If you can’t behave like an adult then go and watch a different sport at a different venue.

Do we know what was said?
If it was indeed abuse, then there should be action taken. I agree with you that the stadium is a place of work for players and coaches and they shouldn't be subjected to any abuse, whether provoked or not!

Unless it was something along the lines of “Jolly nice to meet you, old chap. You seem in somewhat of a tizzy, could I organise for a pot of Earl Grey to be sent to your seat?” then it’s unacceptable.
I think we’d all have taken 196-4 at stumps on day 1. The newbies look good and if Cook and Root can find form we’ll be fine. Those two knowing that not all hope rests on them might help their form.
Just finished watching the highlights. Vince looked very polished, as does Malan. Stoneman looked very solid. Sometimes a scorecard can be deceiving if the team in the field had a mare but that wasn’t really the case here, aside from dropping Vince off Lyon.
Aussies have the edge given we scored so slowly, and we now need to start again Vs another new ball. The pitch though was slow for the Gabba, and we had players understandably very keen no to throw their wickets away, and our two established players managed bugger all between them so rather than 80 short
Tomorrow looks the best day for batting with the sun having a chance to speed up the ball coming onto the bat and the outfield, after that there could be some rain.
I think it's a good start, but we need to turn it into something a bit more. We need these two to stick around a little, and then build partnerships throughout Ali, Bairstow, Woakes. If we have 350+ before getting to the tail, I'll be happy.
And I hardly think we scored that slowly...The start was slow going, but after over 30 the pace really picked up for a while. And as Ali and Bairstow will both be looking to score quickly, I think we well on target speed wise. We are slightly behind on the runs, though, I feel, but not by much.
So we're slightly behind on runs but didn't score slowly?
I'm not taking a swipe at the slow scoring, with that many players unsure of their role/place and with it being an opening day of an ashes series I'd take it over a collapse, so I'm accepting of why it happened. But in reality we only scored at 2.5 runs per over, which is a behind where we'd want to be, and means 2 more wickets would put us under big pressure. And wickets are likely with the new ball based merely on the history of test cricket.

Seem like? Exhibit A is Warner who is an absolute bell end on a good day and a cynt on most.
Just got back from Day 2 at the Gabba as my lad has a game tomorrow up the coast. Jeez, we could have had them under alot more pressure if we hadn't been suckered into rash shots and - in Vince's case - run selection. Moeen not turning the ball nearly as much as Lyon and Woakes has been pretty poor but you've probably deduced as much from television coverage.
