If the current trajectory continues then I'd hope Dodson is having a sit down with him in the summer with a view to get his contract extended.

Can't argue that he deserves an extension based on the job he has done. If he keeps it up then great. However I am little concerned that there'll be an Eddie Jones effect and the message will grow stale. So for me extend him, pay him well but don't make it a five year deal or anything similar.

Seriously, I know what you mean. I'm a bit concerned that everyone's getting a bit too excited a bit too quickly, and I've seen "beaten all four Irish provinces" a bit too often. Great stuff from Cockerill getting the team up to this level, but there's still a way to go. Saturday is a big game.

The important thing is I don't think cockerill or the team are under any illusion about where they are.

On another note, rumours again that a SA LHP is on his way.

Yeah but Robinson got Edinburgh to second in the league, didn't he? I don't recall Solomons reaching the heady heights of mediocrity even. Still, stats don't lie, so I must be misremembering something. What I do like about Cockerill is that he's brought about a big improvement without bringing in too many imports.

Cardiff lack the skill but are at least trying to punch holes with the forwards and then put some pace on it out wide or play clever kicks. Edinburgh have no answer to the latter at all.

No they need to inject pace and power into the game. Change 9 and 10 and try to open them up. The old Edinburgh arm wrestle won't over-turn an 11 point deficit in 40 minutes. Weir is in fine form and anybody is better than Fowles.

A replacement for Kinghorn that will actually deal with those Cardiff chip kicks would also be welcome. But apparently it made much more sense to have a 10 and a 10/12 on the bench for Edinburgh so that option doesn't actually exist.

Even when fast ball is available fowles puts his hand on it and waits.
