Haha - quality. An all-scotland final in Dublin would be highly amusing.

My eldest son is 10 so for his birthday we are doing the final in Dublin.

Juan Pablo Socino signed for Edinburgh on a 2 year deal.
Edinburgh centre options next season will be pretty damn strong.

What's that now?
Scott, Burleigh, Socino, Bennett, Dean, Johnstone?

No idea. I was just trying to think of who is in the squad. Is he thought to be on the way out?

That's a brilliant signing and he offers a lot of flexibility too. Really pleased with that one.

Excellent signing.
Jason Baggott also signed a full time pro contract so that makes him the SQ fly half. It seems a bit under the radar or I made it up... i can't find the relevant link.
Edinburgh are building a very good squad for next season. 9 remains a priority though as it's a huge weakness in the team. Shiel and Steele would offer options. LI are going down anyway.
I suspect they could probably use a bit of an x factor player on the wing. What about Nalaga? With LI as well and surely will not want to play in the championship.
It's hard to keep track of the props - I assume Lay, Millar-Mills and Shields are for this season only? Could do with booting Bryce and bringing in some fresh, young blood and maybe retain Lay who I think is a good squad addition.

Kennedy and Fowles are signed up for next season and Scottish teams rarely pay players off. So that's 2 9's of average quality and a young lad with a lot of upside.
The 9 that comes in has to be of a higher standard than the London Irish back up 9 which is what Steele now firmly is.
If Edinburgh are to bring in an additional 9 he needs to be of a better than average quality. If Steele wasn't Scottish we wouldn't be thinking of him imo.

Apparently the kiwi 9 that was approached was Augustine Pulu.

The Blues Captain? Can't see it happening. Either way, would rather they threw some money at Christie.

That would be the one. Rumour has it he said no which is fair enough.
Christie is under contract for 2 years at the Canes and I'm sure I read he isn't really interested in Scotland at the minute.
I'm not sure he has shown enough yet to warrant spending money buying him out a contract either given then SRU rarely if ever do so.

Strange signing considering 4 hookers are already under contract.

Congrats to DC. Well deserved and a top fella.

No problems with that. He's a squad player and you'd have to think Cochrane and Ford will retire in the 1-3 years. Good chance to test the waters and see if he swims.
This does look concerning for Kevin Bryce though. He needs to move back to hooker - he will drop of out the pro game entirely if this tighthead "experiment" continues. I had thought the sensible thing for the SRU to do would be to facilitate a move back to hooker for him. Signing yet another hooker doesn't suggest so... Maybe Weeg will pick him up.

Am sure there will be a few interested parties sniffing around.

Would do well at the weeg. Never really felt they have had an out and out top 7 since Barclay left

Hmmm. There’s a shout.
I think he probably needs a bit of a fresh start.

If he stays in the NH he'll end up in France I think. He'll want to earn as much as he can before heading back to NZ.

Considering the Weeg have a mini injury crisis at any point in the season I'm not sure I see the value Hardie would add to their squad.

Surely Favaro Fusaro and Gibbens count?
