Good point.

In a move that will surprise nobody, the ERG have decided that, as the deal hasn't changed one iota; nor has their position on it - urging it's members to vote against.

It really is All or Nothing for them!

ETA: Looks like DUP have said much the same - so no way on earth that this passes.
So the only question left, is will the motion be rejected, or will May decide not to have a vote after all, and run the clock down some more.

anyone know why they wouldn't ask the Attorney General for his opinion before spending weeks getting a new 'deal' signed, only for him to hole it below the waterline?

Irrelevent as ERG and DUP seemingly set on no-deal anyway.......that's where we are headed. Or a GE. Or both.

Of course, another question has just ocurred to me - Phillip May has arrived in the Commons Gallery - might she actually step down if defeated this time?

Theresa to take one last look at Westminster and declare the lady's not for returning

Hurrah - General Election being floated as an idea by various Tories...
Just wahat we all need; a chance to kick the can down the road another 6 weeks, and fall out with no deal as we forgot to ask for an extension - or assumed they'd allow it without asking.

I'd say surely parliament steps in at some point, but they haven't so far

If not now, they never will. Surely there are enough sane MPs to put a stop to this nonsense.

I think she will, there is only so much even someone who is so stubborn and unaware can take.

Nothing would surprise me. Not sure why they are even bothering with this debate- ERG and DUP seem determined to take us to no deal exit.

Not sure the MPs uniformly get three things
1- No deal needs legislation
2- The EU have to approve an extension
3- There is no transition without a WA

There's a scenario where we pass legislation to rule out no deal, and the EU don't agree an extension. Lol.

The EU aren't going to rule out some form of extension as practically they're not ready either

I wonder what convinced 100 or so MPs from the first vote?

They may agree a long extension.....may. Reports say mood is 'hardening' in Brussels, but they would say that I guess.

The second part is likely some remainers and some less extreme brexiteers decided to cut losses against a no deal and that no other deal was now possible- that's what the likes of Brady said. Nicky Morgan, a remainer, said it was to try and give a period of certainty....and said how stupid the brexiteers were to vote against, as they were making it less likely we'd leave any time soon. Rees Mogg is clearly thinking of the no deal route- and I wonder if he has some legal ruse to try and stop the 'statutory instrument' needed from happening. Toad man.

Blind panic that otherwise they'd be handing the keys to the country to No-Deal Rees-Mogg. I can't say as I blame them - I might not fancy May's deal, but I fancy that even less.

I don't see what an election will solve at this late date - we might get a government, but the likelihood is we'll still end up with a parliament hung on the question of Brexit because no-one will vote for an MP that represents their views, they'll vote for the one wearing the right coloured rosette.

Surely the only way out of this impasse is a referendum with three choices to be ranked in preference: Remain, May's Deal, No Deal. That's the only way to negate or confirm the "moral authority of the 17.4m who voted leave" as the annoying fucktrombone Rees-Mogg dubbed it today. Otherwise everyone on every side can continue claiming that what "the people" actually meant was anything they like.

If someone offered me a deal in which Brexit was over but Farrell had a life long contract as captain and the head coach of England I’d snap their hand off. That’s how sick and tired of Brexit I am.

me too. Its got to the point where I was praying they accepted May's WA despite absolutely wanting to stay in the EU....even Ken Clarke agrees.

oh yes, that's the daft thing about the WA being called a deal, as if it is 'the' deal. But it won't be played out tortuously in public like this attritional shyte.

Today the government announced a tariff schedule they've lit upon without consulting businesses as that was too tricky for them, I suspect these sort of activities will draw attention
