Yep. I can understand frustration with the setup if we're really planning to carry on the same old shit we've been doing the last 4 years, but he's one of the most senior players now and should be doing something about it rather than rebelling like a teenager.

That's assuming rugby actually has anything to do with it, rather than just living the party boy lifestyle in France.

Worrying. He's hardly keeping good company in Simon Zebo either.

Zebo is a fud. He seems to find it hilarious that his mate could be chucking away his international career.

So no excuses.

It`s early yet, though..
Good to see someone getting to the basic position. Far too many folk trying to find a reason to blame someone else. One guy broke protocols, got drunk, left camp and 't show up next day until late on.bTry that at your work place and see how it goes down I think it's safe to say no one will call for the boss's head and everyone will call you a prat

George Horne at 10 and Rory Hutchison an option as a 'battering ram'
Wow. That really is a load of bollocks isn’t it.

Who in this situation would look to anyone other than Hastings at 10?

Even Kinghorn must have played 10 more recently and more often than Horne?
Jeez. Apart from Horne masterclass against Bennetton a couple of weeks back, he has been mainly playing 10 for Glasgow for a couple of seasons. Kinghorn might have had 20 mins at 10 in the last 2 seasons.
It does help to pay attention or the tiniest bit of research beforehand to avoid looking daft.

The article isn't referring to that Horne.

This is all shaping up nicely.

I was struggling to whittle down my ideal 23 so that’s a big help.

You’re thinking too small.

Russel gets an armchair ride and a hat-trick in a thumping win for Racing this weekend, watches us get absolutely trampled by Ireland on the opening weekend and then retires from international rugby altogether.

If I was Russell, I'd be drunk too, trying to forget how shit the game plan is that he's been told to follow

I think if I was a professional sportsman earning megabucks, I’d not drink so I can stay on the gravy train. High class hookers would be my vice.

I reckon Toonie is gone by April and Russell will come back when the new coach starts.

No idea who is available but someone who believes in forwards actually being physical would be nice

Why would they not just sack him after the RWC? His position was already untenable at that point IMO.

Then again Robinson sent us crashing out of the group stages in 2011 yet the SRU persisted with him through a shocking 6N and AI series before realising they'd made a mistake.

Are we really back there?

It's actually worse under Toony because the team are capable of some brilliant rugby but he is not capable of consistently getting that out of them.

I'd at least like to know whether they kept Townsend because they trust him to turn it around, or because there weren't any other available (in whatever sense) options at the time.

GT really needs to show something new. At the very least he's got to show he's learnt from our repeated failings.

I've been agonising over who to pick at 12, 13, 22, 23, but can this lot get us to a point where it actually matters anyway?

1. Bhatti (fuck it - he's the meanest of the available players)
2. Brown
3. Fagerson
4. Cummings
5. Gray
6. Ritchie
7. Watson
8. Bradbury

16. Dell/Sutherland 17. McInally 18. Berghan 19. Gilchrist 20. Du Preez

I don’t think Bhatti made the cut for Spain. May be wrong - I like his attitude.

I reckon Dell starts there, and I think we may see Luke Crosbie make a bench appearance over du Preez, but agree with the rest of it.

I think he is still under contract until 2021. The SRU in the recent past have tended to not renew contracts or move into other roles rather than outright sacking someone.

I am sure if we go 1-4 this 6N GT will have a worse record than Cotter. Given the respective starting points that return is pretty poor,

Ah, fair enough. I didn’t spot that.

I’m keen to look at Bhatti/Sutherland more through desperation than having assessed their form as deserving.

I really like Crosbie but I figured an 8 would be useful if we’re going with 3 flankers anyway.

Crosbie does have that bit of edge to him that I think you need especially when facing a team like Ireland who will make the game as shit as possible.

Could a couple of the recent retirements be due to coaching conflicts?
