Sale News:
1. Have signed a player who can play across the back 5 in the scrum......no names (Elliot Stooke perhaps)
2. Hoping to extend Manus contract, decision due in next 2 weeks
3. Possible injury cover required for Cobus Weise who is out for 6-9 months following knee surgery
4. Ewan Ashman continues to be courted by the SRU and might be off to Edinburgh even though still has year on contract
5: Akker wants to stay and talking about an extension
Stooke wouldn't've been my first thought when taking about the back 5 of the scrum - he can play 6 to a limited extent, but I'd shudder to think about him at 7 or 8.

Elliot Stooke at openside would be so fantastically Sale-ey.

Feels more and more like the inevitable next stage of the Exeter project to me tbh.

Elliott Stooke will have had more clubs this season than the previous 10 years of his career at this rate.
What happened to Dom Barrow or the two young locks that Sale picked up from Bristol?

Oh yeah. Wasn’t there an article a while back about Barrow coming back to earn an England spot?

Not worked out with Barrow, when he has featured he has often picked up a yellow so think that his contract will not be renewed.
As for Bamber and Groves they are playing regularly for Sale FC in Division One, see how they develop and whether they can step up.

Barrow picking up regular yellow cards isn't exactly a new thing. Was always a very frustrating player to have play for you. Would have a series of good involvements and then give away a stupid unnecessary penalty for the opposition to score three or kick to the corner.
Sale's discipline is pretty iffy anyway, don't think that'll be a deal breaker.

Bumping down ‘Jack Willis signs permanent deal in Toulouse’ to second place in shock transfer news of the day, RICH LANE!!! rejoins Bedford on loan.

Feels like an odd time in the season for that, no? Is he not still second choice behind (the often injured) Piutau?

I haven’t seen him feature in a while. Bedford are only a minor injury crisis and/or Northampton recalling/keeping a number of players from needing an emergency loan so it could be that. No details on duration etc as yet.

He's also dropped behind Noah Heward as well, but CP has been fit and in great form. IT doesn't help RL that Ioan Lloyd can cover 15 (& 9,10,12,13,wing) as well.

Provided we can keep Thacker then we'll have decent options there - Thacker, Oghre, Capon, and Davies. Suspect either Kerr or Bryne might be off as I really don't want to lose Harry....

Very good signings for Bristol. Wolstenholme will be playing for Tigers on Friday night if you want a sneak peak.
Harry Thacker not Chiefs bound?

There was a rumor that he was going to Exeter but he won't really fit the game plan they have, guess we'll need to wait and see.
On tour tomorrow so doubt I'll be watching rugby!

Instigated by the player to get some game time.
Yes, I’m quoting myself. Deal with it!

I assume someone already made the semi-joke that he’d probably go there to play number 8?

Final 2 (for tonight) - Luatua and Thacker.
Not a bad round of re-signings!
Still a load more to come I suspect but figure they'll be announced with timings to help season ticket sales.

You might find yourself in a pub with it on unless you're traveling overseas.
Best of luck. Not sure I could drink enough to keep up with a rugby tour anymore.

Frankly, that shows poor leadership on your part. They're small children; it should be really easy to get them drunk.

Or poor organisation. You get them to bed early and then the dad's can have a couple of beers and a game of poker.
