Sir Joffra Archer..if he writes a book about this, it'll be a best-seller.

Awesome days cricket. On FTA TV too which will do so much good.
These made me chuckle. Mainly because I can't believe they didn't think of Rashid and Ali regarding the champagne.

Any reason you can’t have joint world champs?
Makes more sense than 2+2 < 4+0.
I don’t even want to mention wickets lost because they don’t matter either. Scores were tied twice.

Agreed.
You have dead-heat races & tied fights - level scores after 50 overs AND the super-duper is hardly likely to happen again - ever.Less boundaries means you scored off more deliveries anyway...it's a six & two threes.
I'm sure both teams would have been happy with this
(before Eng won, obvs..now the only country to have won the World Cup in football, cricket and rugby.

Still can't believe it.
What a huge amount of pressure to put on Archer's shoulders and that first wide had me pretty much screaming at the telly. Then he was hit for a 6! Tbf to the lad, he did amazingly well considering everything. Was expecting the nod to be given to someone else, but it all worked out rather nicely.
Gutted for NZ. When we started losing wickets, I only saw one winner and it wasn't us. Stokes and Buttler were our only hope and both put in stellar efforts, but when Buttler went, I thought that was it.
Epic world cup!

Thrilling match. Tough one for anyone to lose, but rules are rules.
Stokes was brilliant at the end.
Glad it got aired on free to view tv. If you want to grow the game and generate maximum interest that has to be the way to go.

Re: Cicket fred
It is completely understandable why the ICC don't allow ties. I can't think of many/any world cups held once every four years that allows for shared winners.
Perhaps a better alternative for a tie breaker after a super over would be a penalty shootout style 5 bowlers get 1 ball each and must hit the stumps and then carry on if tied like a penalty shoot out.

They have used this method in domestic k/o comps; might even still be in use....

Re: Cicket fred
I'll be honest, I turned away from the television after Wood's run out, as I thought we'd lost the game on having lost more wickets than NZ. Only realised after I'd gone back to my seat in the pub and realised 5 minutes later that people were still shouting at live cricket, not replays.
TBH, that would've been a fairer way to separate the teams than the boundaries rule. Or go to a second super over, with NZ continuing and then England. Glad to've won, but it's a pretty crappy way to divide two drawn teams.

Some times you need to see a rule in play to know if it really works. There were the elves in rugby. Some good, some bad. Let’s hope the ICC at least have the guts to admit that total boundaries is a rule that needs to be replaced with something else ahead of the next World Cup.

Yeah..carry on as you are for Over2 then Team1 chases your new score.(New bowlers for Over2)
Chance of this is a Blue moon on a Preston Guild, but at least it'd be straight totals.Sure the overrun could be factored in with media deals etc.

There's no ideal method to determine a winner.
Boundaries is pretty arbitrary but at least its a simple measure.
How about a bowl out? Every player in the 11 has to bowl at a single stump. Most hits wins. Or a fielding challenge, all 11 players have to pick up ball 15-20 meters from a single stump and let fly. Most hits win.
