Indeed. Not a perfect game but a massive performance all the same.Wallpaperman wrote:Blimey, bit of a scrap but we’ll take it

We have to build on this momentum. Twickenham next.

Two weeks to prepare which will be a help.normanski wrote:We have to build on this momentum. Twickenham next.
We still looked blunt in attack but the physicality was there today and the rolling maul worked well. Scrum too

Forward effort was pretty good all round, happy with that. Very stilted behind, but nice to see Liam Williams up for it againSandydragon wrote:Two weeks to prepare which will be a help.normanski wrote:We have to build on this momentum. Twickenham next.

Lots of positives but still a lot to work on. Will Rowlands is starting to look like a real warrior. His pairing with Beard starting to deliver results.Sandydragon wrote:Two weeks to prepare which will be a help.normanski wrote:We have to build on this momentum. Twickenham next.

Not certain if Moriarty is fully fit yet but Basham and Morgan starting to look the part.
I need a few drinks to bring my blood pressure down.

Moriarty looked better after Fagerson went off, I thought. Basham lucky to not get a card at the end but is a real force of naturenormanski wrote:Lots of positives but still a lot to work on. Should have had a couple of yellows in the first half: that score flatters Scotland. Not sure why Biggar went for the drop goal but generally he had a great game. Fair play, well done Cuthbert chasing down than penalty rebound. Fantastic defence, especially at the end. The forwards were fantastic, set piece excellent. Watkin has claimed the 13 shirt for the moment. Basham was borderline for a yellow but with 2 minutes left, it wouldn't have mattered.
Job done.

Re: Can we knock Scotland out of kilter?
Plenty of things to worry about, and I intend to spend the rest of the day worrying about precisely none of them.
Biggar was superb. The one call you could question was the DG, and Wales backed it up. That last line kick, when he stayed on just long enough not to put that pressure on Sheedy... and then absolutely nailed it. If anyone still doubts the man after today, I don't know what to say to you!
Today was the day I finally saw what others have seen in Will Rowlands. Basham still hasn't had a 6/10 game for us. Morgan and Lake didn't look out of place at all. One horrible kick aside, Watkin was rock-solid and work-in-progress or not, I think Tompkins/Watkin could be the future... even if it does sound like flat beer.
Not a day to worry too much about the champagne, either. That was a £6.50 Pinot Grigio that scoured the palate clean very nicely.

Fair play, Wales wanted that more and you've gained valuable experience for some talented youngsters. Good day all round for Wales.

Meanwhile in Paris……..
This game is on another level. But that’s a headache for another week.

Hansen has provided the moment of the tournament so far.Sandydragon wrote:Meanwhile in Paris……..

But aside from that moment, Ireland are getting handled.
Loads of mistakes from both sides spoiling the spectacle, but when it goes right they still look easily the best two sides in the championship.

We need to pray that France don’t travel well. But that thought is for another day.Son of Mathonwy wrote:Yeah, well those guys seem to know what to do when they have the ball.Sandydragon wrote:Meanwhile in Paris……..

France have us in Cardiff, Eng at HQ.? They'll become disinterested in one of those two games.

England v France is on the last weekend. I bet France will be up for it if the slam is in the table. Alternatively we will have beaten them the week before and they will take out their frustration on England (I’m an optimist).Buggaluggs wrote:France have us in Cardiff, Eng at HQ.? French pack and replacements look very good. A narrow win at twickers will set us nicely!!!Sandydragon wrote:England v France is on the last weekend. Re: Can we knock Scotland out of kilter?
France started incredibly well but they aren’t the perfect side. That soft first Irish try and some of the harum scarum stuff suggests that they can have issues focusing for the full 80. But you need to be be very sharp to exploit that and I don’t think we are sharp enough, although we have a couple of weeks to work on that.normanski wrote:French pack and replacements look very good.
