Takes me back to my mid-teens. Me and the boys used to listen to that album while cruising around the streets at nights.

The genius that was Curtis Mayfield. Still sounding fresh and relevant today..

Nothing on the original, sorry
Meanwhile, it appears Julia Samoylova (2 posts back) will be able to compete in Eurovision via satellite. We know they'll never let her win, of course, but I wonder how they'd go about awarding her the prize if she did . . .

"Blue and Lonesome", by the Rolling Stones, inspired by Keith Richard's love of 50s Chicago Blues with their interpretation of music by the likes of Little Walter.
If you like Blues, check this out, it's very good ....... and if you don't like the Blues, find the time to listen to a couple of tracks and you may be converted!

Enjoyed that, if mostly for a laugh Was it a one-hit-wonder, or did those guys go on to have a whole string of hits with that strange blend of rock, jazz, yodelling & opera?

Jan Ackerman is quite a famous guitarist and Focus are well known in prog rock. Better known generally than that god-awful Russian Eurovision woman.

Focus minus the yodelling were bloody good. Ackerman really could play and was infinitely better then a whole heap of over rated rock guitarists. Drummer was damn fine too.

Sylvia was a pretty big hit. Great musicians, if a little eccentric, mainstay of the great OGWT and favourite of now country fan, whispering Bob Harris.
