My main gripe was with the commentary ansld the ABs brain explosions. The fact Ireland failed to cross the chalk when for quarter of the game the ABs were down to 14 is woeful especially considering the possession. So no, Ireland didn't do very well IMO.

No, Ireland Were tough and the score one flatteredbthe ABs, we haven't been dominated in possession like that for a long time. it was a good tight test match. The refereeing was crap for both sides and your commentators made the Kiwi equivalents look like bastions of partisanship.

Perhaps you should question why to go for 3 points when nz was with 14 players and we gave you a penalty.

Ireland played pretty well considering they lost three key players to injury quite early in the game. But they could not convert possession/territory into points. They lack one crucial element - speed - throughout the team as a whole, though a couple of individual players do have some gas (Zebo, Ringrose, VDF). Others, who did not play today, do have some speed (Earls, O'Halloran, Adeolokun, Olding). Schmidt has to find a way of utilizing them in the match day 23. At present Ireland does not have the strike power in the backs to make most of the adequate ball won up front.

Ben Smith fractured his finger. I guess that's his tour done.

Frustrating game for All Blacks fans because the discipline problems from two weeks ago were plainly in evidence again.

Back to back wins against Hansen's All Blacks are a rarity, so no shame to Ireland for falling short. Of more concern was the inability to threaten the line. Australia, as poor as they've been recently, know how to score tries.

Absolutely brutal test match.

Just watched the highlights with the nz commentary. They didn't really mention Peyper much. Only the highlights mind, but if there was one thing that I really noticed was Irish players hanging on to players they tackled once brought to ground. Certainly a couple of penalties that went Ireland way could have gone the other way on a different day.

Oh and Beuden, your kicking is not so bad you needed to run that behind the posts.

You only noticed the irish players? It took us about 60 minutes to work out that that wasn't going to be pinged whilst your boys were at it.

he did allow players to not release after the tackle.

Thought he did a mistake by giving a yellow to fekitoa while before he let Sexton go unpunished. Both should have been yellow or none.

Credit to Ireland. You have a very good team.

If you want to talk about inconsistency Moody got done for a tackle round the neck when thats what Ireland were all about 2 weeks ago in Chicago.

You only noticed the irish players? It took us about 60 minutes to work out that that wasn't going to be pinged whilst your boys were at it.

To be fair, it was an nz highlights package so showed more of nz with ball in hand, ergo more Irish tackling

On t'other hand, one of the incidents I noticed was in the first half, so 60 mins still a long way in the future.

I think that's a fair assessment, but he's less likely to have a melty/flakey than a few year ago. Seems to have mellowed into the role, with Murray providing capable, even tempered support at half back.

Clearly missed when he left the pitch (PJ isn't international standard).

Yeh, loose forwards are looking good. FR struggled at times yesterday, but looks like we might have the makings of a terrific TH in Furlong. Early days yet of course.

Sexton is a very good fly half with an all round game. He is increasingly injury prone and hardly ever finishes a match.

I think you're a bit hard on Jackson. He had a great series in SA in the summer. He was not at his best yesterday, but not nearly as bad as many are making out. I think he will grow into the role. It would help if he were to have a string of games.

Fekitoa and Cane cited.

Cane and Fekitoa cited. Hope they both cop it as Savea looks to be in fine form and Fekitoa just isn't the answer in midfield IMO. He may grow into the role as per Nonu but I can't see it. Cane might get off as it was a head clash by the looks of things, not cynical at all, Fekitoas wasn't cynical but it was reckless beyond. Not sure how Sexton hasn't been cited for grabbing Barrett by the face and the neck when he scored.

Pleased they've been cited. Best thing to clear the air. IMO there was little in Cane's tackle, and a yellow was an appropriate sanction for Fekitoa's dumb tackle. Be interesting to see what the judiciary think. Cane's out for the next test due to injury anyway.
