And what do you make of the vehicle hes used to win this election? His 'wall' carry on and vile comments about hispanics? I'm all for anti establishment but I draw a line when it comes to targeting minorities. Its exactly the same as Brexit. I have no problem with it but the way they have drawn votes disgusts me.rowan wrote:Which part of flabbergasted didn't you understand?Lizard wrote:Back yer truck up mate.rowan wrote:Ireland beats the All Blacks, Trump wins the election . . . Like a lot of other people I just never took Trump seriously. A little of my faith in American democracy has been restored. I congratulate the people of the US for electing the lesser of two evils.

Your theory was that Trump wouldn't win, because he couldn't, because it was a set up.rowan wrote:Which part of flabbergasted didn't you understand?Lizard wrote:Back yer truck up mate.rowan wrote:Ireland beats the All Blacks, Trump wins the election . . . So you kind of need to admit that all of that was wrong.
There is no shadowy elite controlling all. Just a bunch of fuckwits, fuckwitting as hard they can until some bigger fuckwit comes along.

It wasn't much of a choice, was it? But who knows what will happen. Obama campaigned on an anti-war ticket, picked up a Nobel Prize for it, and then proceeded to bomb 7 countries.
There is no shadowy elite controlling all.
A lot of people got a lot of things wrong about this election. I was one of them. Trump's policies appeared so bizarre to me that I just wrote him off as a serious politician, which was my mistake, evidently, but on the foreign policy issue Clinton appeared the far more dangerous of the two.
So I congratulate the American people on their choice today. Democracy is alive in the US afterall, even if it effectively came down to choosing the lesser of two evils.

I suspect President Trump will be spending the first few months of his administration undoing much of what Obama did manage to achieve. Obamacare must be toast. As for gun control, oh well.

People used to reserve their protest votes for elections that don't really matter.

Is that Kanye?
Like most white people these days I have an album by Kanye, but I can't say I'm that familiar with him.

It was so much easier to blame Them. It was bleakly depressing to think They were Us. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Trump only had a chance of becoming president as he was up against Clinton, of course on the flip side I thought Clinton only had a chance to be president as she was up against Trump, but in the end she didn't even come close to winning the electoral college, though she may actually get the popular vote.

Couldn't give a shyte about the election. Won't make a difference to the average Seppo pleb either.
For me, the real pleasure was watching liberals and feminists across d'interwebs become apoplectic as the results rolled in.

All hail the Trump!

Re: Election Tracker/Predictions
I don't quite agree with the "no one but themselves to blame" sentiment. I wonder if a lot of young people in America simply decided that they couldn't bring themselves to vote for the status quo. The Republicans have the house again so Hillary wouldn't have been able to change much even if she had wanted to. If I was a Sanders fan, and a lot of the younger generation seem to have been a supporter I would probably have chosen to Vote for Hillary. However I can understand the sentiment that having Trump in the chair is a form of change at least. If nothing else if Trump enacts some of his ideas it will focus the need for change in America in a way that a Vote for Clinton couldn't for these people.Eugene Wrayburn wrote:I haven't been following this word for word - too depressing - but is that right because last I heard turnout was up. It means the sick and infirm have a fucking harsh road ahead. They are an easy scapegoat for "cost" as are the working poor and unemployed.
Clinton, if you couldn't win this one, you should just fuck off quietly. Well done for hounding out any semblance of real policy that might upset how your lobbyists make money currently.
Fuck this. Everyone is a cunt today.

Neither does John's Keys. That's why he assigned that scientific luminary Paula Bennett to the portfolio.
Tell you what, the last 4 years of NZ opening the legs and throwing everything behind free trade deals with the USandA is looking a bit fucking shakey now.
