Re: Trump
So will he set up his own Patriots Party? Will he be charged with anything (or anything that he can't buy his way out of)? Will he go bankrupt due to the alleged $1billion debts and the sudden reluctance of lenders to take a risk on him? Will the plastic trophy wife bugger off?
Do we actually care any more?

Re: Trump
Sudden reluctance? I thought all the banks bar Deusche had already deserted him; so he only really got money out of Deusche and the Russian mob. Of whom, only Deusche have suddenly severed ties.Sandydragon wrote:So will he set up his own Patriots Party? Will he be charged with anything (or anything that he can't buy his way out of)? Or was I wrong about all that?

I think the abortive insurgency has made him even more toxic, but I agree this isn't a sudden process.Which Tyler wrote:Sudden reluctance? Re: Trump
Luckily he can probably find a bank or two in London, we're world class for facilitating the worst examples of humanity that can be thrown at us in the name of making a penny or two, especially if the sums of Russian money being laundered are large

Re: Trump
It' lawyers, not banks, who make money of Trump (and even that is assuming that he ever gets around to paying the lawyers). The banks just foot the bill for his next bankruptcy.Digby wrote:Luckily he can probably find a bank or two in London, we're world class for facilitating the worst examples of humanity that can be thrown at us in the name of making a penny or two, especially if the sums of Russian money being laundered are large
It deserves the same as Trump - a slow death born of being roundly ignored by everyone.Zhivago wrote:can we lock this thread now? or do we have to let it die a slow death off the first page?
Mind you, it could be argued that it deserves the same as Trump - to be locked up.
Personally, I'd keep it open - so that we can discuss his impeachment, various other prosecutions, and hopefully his imprisonment.

Multiculturalism being inherently divisive is an interesting concept to try and get your head around.

Re: Trump
The problem with that theory is that it requires Trump's businesses to make money instead of losing it hand-over-fist. Deutsche Bank only gave him his last loan because he was so badly indebted to them that it would've cost them more for him to go under.Digby wrote:Luckily he can probably find a bank or two in London, we're world class for facilitating the worst examples of humanity that can be thrown at us in the name of making a penny or two, especially if the sums of Russian money being laundered are large

Plus there is a whole new generation of home schooled law makers that work entirely via social media and think spreading conspiracy theory = work. One of them has stated they will be "filing Articles of Impeachment against Joe Biden for abuse of power".

Multiculturalism is literally the founding principle of the country. Granted they have rarely lived up to it, but it is the whole point of the nation.morepork wrote:

In defence of the banks there's a lot of money to be made from money laundering. Not sure what kind of 'defence' that is. Certainly not a moral or legal one.Digby wrote:In defence of the banks there's a lot of money to be made from money laundering. Agreed though, the City of London has much expertise in this area.

This sort of thinking is both wrong and counterproductive. If you make them inhuman you make it so that they aren't responsible. You also persuade others that since they aren't inhuman they can't have fascistic ideas.cashead wrote:Christ, every single one of those cunts that enabled and supported Trump for the last 5 or so years should have a big "T" carved into their faces - give them the Hester Prynne treatment, but adjust it accordingly for racist fash-loving shitcunts.
You could argue for their human rights, but then you'd have made a fatal mistake. How can "human" rights apply to fascists? You need to be human first.

Agreed. Dehumanising people you disagree with is never a good idea - it leaves them no where to go. If you believe people are animals then you will treat them that way.Eugene Wrayburn wrote:This sort of thinking is both wrong and counterproductive. Re: Trump
This is a key point for me. Education in the UK made such a point that racists were terrible awful people, which is good in one way, but means that people flip out when you say they've done or said something racist - racists are terrible awful people, they don't think they're a terrible awful person, therefore what they said wasn't racist, therefore you are the problem for calling them names, woke-boy.Eugene Wrayburn wrote:This sort of thinking is both wrong and counterproductive.
