And were you impressed with the GOP Senators putting up photos of Elijah Cummings as part of their paying respects to John Lewis?

Listening to a thing about DHS, CPB, the mysterious unidentified agents, covering their remit and just how far they have overstepped it. It really is fucked. It's amazing the actions that some graffiti can be used to justify.

Still not seen any official confirmation or denial about the incidents with people being picked up by men in vans refusing to identify themselves, but maybe I've missed it.

There is at least one video of 1 arrest without probable cause.

Jesus.

It looks like a story about a man who knew too many secrets about the powerful: shielded till it was impossible, then disposed of.

It's incredible isn't it? Manifest destiny and Americna exceptionalism perfected in a concept - "Slavery was a necessary evil because without it, there wouldn't have been the United States."

The wild thing is that it likely won't hinder his political career. Probably the opposite.

It has probably fucked him in terms of becoming president, but it will secure him the Republican nomination barring obliteration of Trumpists in 2020 and 2022.

I'm slightly surprised that the Dems haven't been messaging this as secret police. I mean there is a possibility they've run it through the focus groups and the american public rather likes the idea of secret police in which case the country is even more fucked than I thought it was.

Tell Zuckerberg to pull his receding alien forehead out of his arse and maybe the whole cartoon narrative that BLM is a thinly disguised radical left take over of white suburbia and all things American would die like coronavirus on a remote NZ island.

Fuck you Digby, fuck you I say.

Social media is the bane of any effort to employ data driven methodology in the management of this pandemic, and someone has to curtail the use of such by this absolute train wreck of a "government". Americas stocks are getting lower and lower by the day. Equal parts dangerous and hilarious, depending upon if you live within or outside of this burning circus tent.

Given we tend to copy the USA it's somewhat alarming here too, we're not as far down a path of populism though, even allowing for the USA will get a chance to halt/reject populism before we do. I wasn't sure whether in typing this simply to say facism now rather than populism when it comes to Trump, it still seems a little OTT, but that such label is even partially suitable isn't a source of comfort

The Fat Golfer just tried to defend the claims of the witch doctor in the link I posted at a "coronavirus briefing":

A CNN reporter pressed Mr. Trump on his promotion of Immanuel's statements about hydroxychloqoruine.

"The woman you said is a great doctor in that video that you retweeted last night said that masks don't work and there is a cure for COVID-19, both of which health experts say is not true," the reporter said. "She's also made videos saying that doctors make medicine using DNA from aliens and that they're trying to create a vaccine to make you immune from becoming religious—"

Trumpet responds while furiously playing his air accordion, "Well maybe it's a sign, maybe it's not, but I can tell you this — she was on air, along with many other doctors," Mr. Trump responded. "They were big fans of hydroxychloroquine. And I thought she was very impressive in the sense that, from where she came, I don't know which country she comes from, but she said that she's had tremendous success with hundreds of different patients. And I thought her voice was an important voice. But I know nothing about her."

Pressed on the matter further, the president abruptly ended his news conference. This is right up there with injecting bleach, but hopefully will help shift the 63 million doses of hydroxychloroquine stockpiled a couple of weeks before the FDA declared it ineffectual and potentially life threatening for covid patients. I am beginning to understand the multiple bankruptcies now.

Its incredible that he isn't completely broke. I can only assume that his own ability to bully competitors (i.e. less wealthy businesspeople who can't afford fancy lawyers) combined with some actual competence within his various businesses have kept him afloat.

Given how much he was provided by this father, it would be interesting to find out if he has increased that amount beyond say what bank interest would provide.

It's quite possible he is broke, indeed not merely cash broke but bigly indebted. But as the saying goes, if you owe your bank £1,000 you're at their mercy; owe them £1 million and the position is reversed.

If you're interested in the history of Trumps finances I recommend the podcast, The Asset.

https://theassetpodcast.org/

Trump has failed in business venture after business venture, first he was financed by his father, then by Deutsche Bank, then by rich Russians looking to get their money out of Russia. He should not only be broke, he should be in jail.

His old man seems to have been one dodgy thundercunt that made a mint from government investment in affordable housing during the great depression (how ironic) and likely set him up with shady contacts to insulate the developmentally challenged Donald from having to make too many decisions. Donald inherited Roy Cohn as a lawyer/mentor. That same Roy Cohn who got Julius and Ethel Rosenberg executed for spying and was Joseph McCarthy's right hand man. A real nasty piece of work. Represented Rupert Murdoch too.

I thought it was an open thing that he owes an awful lot of money to some fairly dodgy people?

His entire empire is built on leverage. Money is made from the name, plastered all over the place, and his debt. There's someone else who's been copying Trump recently, Grant Cardone. Mr 10X! The scientologist... Who may have just gone bankrupt, lol.

More loonie, leftie scare tactics or is this just maybe, possibly not acting in the best interests of these children?
