Re: America
Loving the Georgia governor taking some of his own cities/mayors to court to argue they can't enforce a requirement for people to wear masks, and is doing so to help people survive (and by people he means businesses)
Sort of an interesting case because the state trumps the local areas, but the mayors might have localised police powers in a pandemic that entitle them to enforce a ruling on masks anyway. It does rather beg the question of haven't you got anything better to be doing than contesting a requirement for masks? If you want to support state businesses in light of the need to wear masks issue free masks

I don't know what sort of answer you even want to that. Has this happened in front of a TV news crew or a journalist? I have no idea. Is it actually what it appears to be? It would seem like something worth checking.morepork wrote:Are these surfacing on social media only?

It's called a boxer's fracture - and yet get it from punching someone in the face with inadequate hand protection - not from someone kicking your hand away.A police officer punched and dragged a homeless man who was allegedly taking up more than one seat on a near-empty subway train in Manhattan, body camera video from May shows.
But Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance is charging the bloodied man with felony assault, punishable by up to seven years in prison, for allegedly kicking the officer’s hand while the cop tried to cuff him on the platform of the Midtown station.
...
Saha said in a criminal complaint that Long told him Joseph kicked his right hand while the officers attempted to cuff the ejected rider on the platform. Long, according to Saha, “sustained swelling and substantial pain to the knuckles of his right hand and was transported to the hospital.”
“He informs me that because of the swelling he is unable to open and close his hand without experiencing pain,” Saha said.
ETA: Apparently Vance is the same DA who refused to prosecute Harvey Weinstein due to a lack of evidence.

Out of interest, have you seen the news and are being sarcastic, or is that just really fun timing?canta_brian wrote:You’re probably right. I expect we will never know. Re: America
It's insane that martial law is stealthily being imposed in a thinly veiled attempt to cover the canvas with a cartoon culture war, all in an effort to discredit the fundamental reason for civil unrest, which ironically is being reinforced by systemic police brutality.
On a related note, I would suspect that some private security firms have been contracted by the government to crack heads in the name of statues. Something like Blackwater security founded by the brother of current Education secretary Betsy DeVos, for example...
How much resource has been spunked away in the effort to suppress legitimate civil rights concerns that could otherwise have been used to test and trace, provide a safety net for the needlessly unemployed, and coordinate a global effort to treat the pest?
This is a nightmare.

Twitter is clamping down in accounts linked to Qanon.
First I have heard of these nut jobs. Is this sort of thing what passes for critical thinking in America now? No wonder Trump managed to get elected if a proportion of the public are this mental.

Given that many of the federal agents are unbadged, it's probable that PSCs are being used in some capacity. It will be interesting if State Governors use the National Guard to stop federal personnel from intervening.morepork wrote:It's insane that martial law is stealthily being imposed in a thinly veiled attempt to cover the canvas with a cartoon culture war, all in an effort to discredit the fundamental reason for civil unrest, which ironically is being reinforced by systemic police brutality.

It's the evolution of the tea party fruitcakes, and is even worse than you think. They are infiltrating political ranks. Social media in America has ensnared a big chunk of the population and converted them to irrational fuckwittery.

Terrific work from Householder in Ohio, immediately calls come in from the WH seeking clarity on what's happened with regards to Trump's money
The GOP could really use some similar stories about the Dems right now, luckily the DoJ is a hugely biased entity that stands ready to do their bidding
