Thats the thing, Dunbar missed 3, Watson 2, several 1 but because of the tries people are focusing on Jones.

I’m not going to pretend to know about defensive structures employed by backs during international rugby, but what I would say is that going high on George North when he’s got the ball tucked away and is several metres out is a mistake, particularly when you have time to take him low or even jump on his fecking back.

That said, I would even go as far as saying the two tries weren’t the main reasons we lost on Saturday - improvements in a few areas would have seen a better result, irrespective of two shitty tries.

I am not defending the 2 missed tackles by Jones. They are pretty rotten. That doesn't mean we need to overly hammer him for it. Tom English wrote an article almost immediately saying he can't be trusted.

I was merely saying compare the way folk are talking about Jones compared to the others who missed the same or more tackles. The supposed defensive lynchpin missed 3 tackles and showed a worrying lack of speed that helped create the situation where Davies got on the outside of Jones.

Yeah, I get wanting to rotate a bit with 4 games and this being Fiji but even if we play/win we’ll it doesn’t clear up all issues about selection for SA.

Interesting team. Looks a decent balance of continuity and change. Back division has had plenty of games together although I would have liked to see Kinghorn start and hogg on the bench if at all. Didnt expect to see Harris back in.

Skinner getting a start is interesting. Never seen him play but chance to show what he offers.

For me this is the most important match of the four.We know we can do Argentina more often than not, South Africa is a hard game we wouldnt be expected to win, this however would be a bit of a kick in the lid if we lost, Fiji's first away win over "tier 1" away and USA first win over "tier 1" (I believe) in the same year, not great.

It is Ritchie AND Fagerson (at the same time, no problem with either separately) and centres, particularly with Dunbar at 13. Jones wants back on the horse immediately IMO.

Yeah. Hard to know if that looks like Jones being dropped or saved for SA but you’d think you’d want him to get his confidence backup, whether or not he was majorly at fault.

Excited by that lock pairing, Gil Christ has turned into an angry machine and if Skinner does the same they could do some real damage.

If it starts going pear shaped Laidlaw will slow it down and control it.
