Thank goodness. It’s not an England team without some South African blood in it.
Don't worry. Malan's dad's a saffa, so there's been some South African blood around :D

One-Day Cup, New Road:
Leicestershire 376-4:
Worcestershire 380-4: Ferguson 192
After Ali bags a duck, Callum Ferguson's 192 helped them pass the target of 377 with 16 balls to spare ...
Nice one Wuss - record 1 day chase to boot.
Irish?..Scottish ?? English ???...nay chance, another Oz off the conveyer belt. :| (well 33 y/o, ocw when 31... even their oldies are better than ours).

Good ol' Headingley..mind you, last-in can be even more dangerous, pitch prep. & weather depending.
Vaughan doing some proxy management & rattling Broad to good effect, or ongoing frustrating behaviour by the 3 big seniors AC, SB and JA turning it on when there's a chance they may be dropped ?...dunno.
Ey oop!, it's only a 2-match 'series' anyhow, followed by 2 months smash-bang-wallop fest....

Much better. Is it really that hard to get revved up to play a test and to perform the basics to an reasonable level?

Now make it pay with a solid days batting.

So far nobody can be bothered to stay in and build a 100+ score, the discipline just isn't there to convert some okay starts when there's plenty of time even with the loss of hours to rain

It was a super catch from Bess to get rid of Sohail, but just wtf is Sohail doing going at the ball like that? The risk/reward being taken on there Vs the new ball, Vs Anderson, on that wicket is just bonkers

Well that's a start. Young Bess & Kevin C's lad look up for it - attitude is more than half the battle.
They need to look into the Lord's effect - how many lack-lustre defeats at HQ are followed by turnarounds at Headingley, Old Trafford or Edgbaston ?..(*).Oval is too benign as a rule.
Old Buffer syndrome, or opposition upping their game due to the prestige?
Could do with some stats. to verify this assertion (*)

Nice to win but a 3 day test is never satisfactory and a series ending 1-1 isnt ideal. A decider would have been better, rather then 2 months of one dayers.
Buttler's return a success and Bess has something about him. Curran is keen but surely doesnt have the pace to take wickets consistently.

That was awful. We bowled poorly but still had enough batting to set up winning positions that we carelessly threw away. Some of our cricket was absolutely brainless with Root's run out being especially dumb.

late steadying..481-6 is ok.
Just need to stop 'em scoring more than 9.5 /over for 50 overs now....it's do-able. :|

This Aussie team are pretty shunt, mind. Really not good.

And we have a real good balance with Moeen and Rashid in the middle overs.

England's ability to be consistently be involved in cricketing records continues. More often than not, the records are not good for us, but here we have a good one.

Scotland and now this.

Whatever next?

We have a barnstorming batting lineup in white ball cricket. But our bowling attack includes Willey...

I kinda think it could be worth experimenting with Bairstow opening in tests... Or if not opening, first drop. Hid fielding is top notch.

Good fun and its always a treat to watch the Aussies get hammered and yet........

480 in a 50 over match. I dunno, the scales are tilted far too much towards the batsmen now in OD cricket. How about restoring a bit of balance. Minimum boundary distances, no fielding restrictions after the first 10 overs, bowlers can bowl as many overs as they like and revert back to one ball.

TB is England's "designated" record setting ground for starters. Secondly, if a team is truly woeful, then they should be punished. Thirdly, no bowling restrictions wouldn't have changed the Aussie bowling, as Paine used 8 of them!!! And lastly, I feel like this was always going to be the case with T20s getting so big.

Bowlers need to work out new ways to play, just like the batsmen have. But it's a completely different game, not just discipline, to test cricket now.

Frankly 5 day matches are hard, much easier to give in within 3

Now just to establish which bowler to drop
