They are all great options.

It's a good thing that Bradbury got the 4th try too. It's something positive on his return.

Great result.
Cheetahs away next will be a real test of their mettle.

"I'm delighted now we have a few days to have a little bit of downtime, not too much, as we know our lads can't behave themselves when they're away from the place," Cockerill joked

Only seen a few highlights but that Johnson does look pretty handy. It's odd the way Edinburgh seem to have a bit of a log-jam in certain positions- Bradbury/Ritchie/Crosbie/Carmichael at 6 & Johnson/Dean/Bennet/Freuan at 13.

Mark Palmer reporting Edinburgh have interest in Barclay but work to be done on deal.

That's quite interesting. Hopefully one of the ball carrying back rows will move to the weeg then.Big D wrote:Mark Palmer reporting Edinburgh have interest in Barclay but work to be done on deal.
I do wonder if that's Hardie's Edinburgh career done then. Edinburgh aren't short of back row options if he comes back.

They have been interested since before they knew about Hardie apparently. I think this was always likely to be honest year.hugh_woatmeigh wrote:That's quite interesting. I wouldn't move on any of the young lads. I'd get rid of Mata and Hardie. Barclay will be 32 not long into next season so this would be a deal to mange the workload for rest of his career, mentor they younger lads (because fuck me they need mentors and leadership) and maybe get involved in coaching down the line.

Rumours abound that Jaco Van Der Walt the Lions 10/15 has signed a 3 year deal.

Hmmm. There could be one or two more from this list. Good luck to him if true.Big D wrote:Rumours abound that Jaco Van Der Walt the Lions 10/15 has signed a 3 year deal.

Does that mean it will take 5 years for him to qualify?Big D wrote:Rumours abound that Jaco Van Der Walt the Lions 10/15 has signed a 3 year deal.

That Rudolph Straueli, is he the jeb end that turned up at Murrayfield with the Boks, did us the honour of saying he had heard of some of our players to then get pumped and have a young Nicky Walker score the winning try by falling over?General Zod wrote:Hmmm. I think he'll add to the team, certainly, but that's quite a ramma jam of backrowers in that squad isn't it? Anybody known to be on the way out?

Wouldn't be surprised to see Glasgow pick up one of the ball carriers. Might see Hardie moved on. He won't be that cheap & he's a not cut out for the rigours of the pro game IMO.Mikey Brown wrote:I think he'll add to the team, certainly, but that's quite a ramma jam of backrowers in that squad isn't it? Hardie will probably go. Mata too I expect and RC doesn't seem to fancy Miller.Mikey Brown wrote:I think he'll add to the team, certainly, but that's quite a ramma jam of backrowers in that squad isn't it? Anybody known to be on the way out?
Leaving:
6: Ritchie, Crosbie
7: Watson
8: Bradbury, CdP, Miller
Can play all 3: Barclay
Can play 6: Carmichael and McKenzie
That's a pretty solid group.
Those out of contract are Hardie, Mata and CdP.

My only complaint is that he's not going to Glasgow.

Excellent, I really thought that he was going to finish his career in Wales.Big D wrote:Barclay has signed for Edinburgh. Good news all round imo.
I am a little surprised at a three year contract for a flanker into his thirties and who's had a few injuries in recent years. However I'm hoping that he can be our Mike Blair and push Ritchie or Crosbie to be our Ali Price before stepping back into coaching.
